It is with a full but heavy heart that Stratosfunk must bid farewell to our leading lady Yara Neto, at the end of 2015.
Yara has been Stratosfunk’s lead singer from the band’s beginning in 2008. Over the last seven years, she has combined her love of singing soul music in Stratosfunk with completing a masters degree in psychology – a pairing that has meant a huge amount of hard work and much time away from family and friends. Yara leaves us to pursue some different musical endeavours, focus on her career as psychologist, and also on her new soon-to-be career as a mother! Congratulations Yaya – you’re going to be amazing and this little one’s set of lungs will be unparalleled, we’re sure!
We’re going to miss her sense of humour, our ridiculously silly hi jinx with her at rehearsals and gigs, and of course her beautiful voice; which manages to raise the roof off the place one minute and give us full-body goosebumps the next. Thank you for all of the time and effort you’ve put into this crazy little project we call Stratosfunk, Yara, it has been an amazing ride we’ve had together. It would not have been what it was without you.
So, please come and catch Yara and the rest of Stratosfunk perform their last few public shows, as they come to the bittersweet end of an era.

This is a great cause and we are donating our time for this one too.
If you don’t manage to make any of these, never fear – Stratosfunk hope to be back later in 2016 with a brand new soul and Motown show to get you out of the house and onto that dance floor!
To get your soul / R&B / Motown fix, catch the Milford Street Shakers at events and venues around Perth through 2017 and beyond!
Made up of some of your favourite Stratosfunk members, plus some new fresh faces, they’ll get you up on to the dance floor with their own brand of 1950s and 1960s soul.
Check them out on Facebook!
